At the end of May 2020 Australia started to emerge from Lockdown 1. In June Gretel began painting her first commissions. She painted them on corflute because canvases were expensive and she didn't know how to paint on them. When she was invited to paint several works for the Ninbella Gallery in the Northern Rivers town of Bangalow it was requested that she paint on canvas. And so she learnt how- through trial and some pretty ugly errors. By October lockdown had come again- leaving Gretel to turn to the view outside her window and the imagination in her mind,
